If a hair transplant costs much less in Turkey than in the UK, it is reasonable to ask what the catch is. The honest answer is more reassuring, and more nuanced, than either the hype or the scare stories. Here is how to compare the two properly and decide what is right for you.

The gap is driven by local economics, not by cutting corners. Staff wages, clinic rent, facilities and living costs are all lower in Turkey than in the UK, and the exchange rate widens the difference further. Comparing like with like

The most common mistake is comparing a UK treatment-only price with a Turkey all-inclusive package, or vice versa. Many Turkish clinics quote the surgery, hotel, transfers and aftercare as one package; a UK quote usually covers the procedure alone. The real total cost of travelling

Even after adding flights and any extras, treatment in Turkey often remains considerably cheaper than the UK equivalent — but the key is to count everything honestly. If the hotel and transfers are in your quote, the main additions are flights and travel insurance. Do the full sum rather than comparing headline figures.

One trip, and aftercare from home

A hair transplant is usually a single, short trip: arrival, examination and procedure, then the first wash at the clinic before you fly. Your plan confirms the nights you need. Afterwards, most follow-up can be done remotely — you send photographs at the agreed intervals, and the physician who treated you reviews them. We do not have a clinic or partner practice in the UK, so anything that needs to be seen in person, such as a suspected infection, is a matter for your GP or a local clinician first, with your coordinator staying in touch on the same WhatsApp number. Keep your treatment summary and medication list with you in case you need them.

"Is cheaper riskier?"

This is the real question, and the honest answer is that the risk lies in the clinic you choose, not in the country. There are excellent clinics and poor ones in Turkey, just as there are in the UK. When you compare, count the whole journey: the written quote (procedure, grafts, medication, hotel nights and transfers where included), flights, travel insurance and a few days away from work. Ask whether the quote is a fixed figure for an agreed graft range or a price per graft, and what happens if the examination changes the plan — with us, any change and its cost is explained before treatment and needs your written approval.

Getting a real number

A meaningful price depends on your graft count, which is why we give it in writing after seeing your photographs rather than publishing a figure that would be wrong for most people.
